The sand dollar is very special to our founder, and it is the reason she brought L. Christine Designs back again as a company.

Here is the story of the Sand Dollar in Lori's own words: 

"The sand dollar has always inspired me.

Long before I understood its Holy symbolism, I was drawn to its beauty, its delicate design, and the incredible intricacy of its creation. Every detail seemed intentional. As I held one in my hand, I couldn't help but marvel at the thought that such a beautiful and unique creature could exist beneath the ocean's surface.

Over time, I learned the deeper meaning about the sand dollar, and suddenly I understood why it had always spoken to my heart.

According to Christian tradition, the five holes in the sand dollar symbolize the wounds Christ suffered on the cross. The flower-shaped design on the front resembles a poinsettia, the Christmas flower, celebrating the day of His birth.

When a sand dollar is broken open, five tiny dove-shaped pieces are found inside. These doves symbolize peace, hope, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The symbolism is beautiful, meaningful, and is significant in the journey of the sand dollar itself.

When the sand dollar dies, it is washed ashore and bleached by the sun. What was once hidden beneath the dark ocean is transformed into something beautiful and brought into the light, carrying a message of hope.

For me, that is a picture of the Gospel.

Jesus willingly endured suffering, wounds, rejection, and death on the cross so that we could have life. Through His death and resurrection, He made a way for us to be free from sin and restored to a relationship with God.

As Jesus said:

"I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly." — John 10:10

And perhaps the most well-known promise of all:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16

I first learned about Jesus when I was nine years old from a storybook I found in a dentist's office. Years later, at nineteen, I knelt on my bedroom floor and asked God to come into my heart. I didn't fully understand everything at the time, but I knew I needed Him.

The truth is, we all do.

Life can be beautiful, but it can also be difficult. We carry wounds from childhood. We hear messages that tell us we aren't enough. We compare ourselves to others. We struggle with fear, rejection, disappointment, financial stress, broken relationships, and the constant noise of the world around us.

Today, more than ever, women are overwhelmed. Social media, endless notifications, unrealistic expectations, comparison, and uncertainty leave many of us exhausted and questioning our worth.

But God's truth is different from the world's message.

God says you are loved.

God says you are chosen.

God says you are valuable.

God says you are worthy, not because of what you do, what you own, how you look, or what others think of you, but because you are His.

The sand dollar reminds me of that truth every day.

It reminds me that God is real. God is here.

It reminds me that I am never alone.

It reminds me that my worth is not determined by the world around me.

It reminds me that Jesus' death and resurrection changed everything.

That is why I wear my sand dollar every day.

And this message of truth is why I created L. Christine Designs.

My prayer is that every piece of jewelry and every gift becomes more than an accessory. It’s an adornment, yes. But it’s so much more. It’s an adornment representing God’s truth. Life. Freedom. Hope. Belief.
