Our gorgeous and dainty sand dollar is pure 14K Gold and is suspended from a 14K Gold-Filled shiny flat cable chain. This is a staple piece and looks beautiful on its own or layered with any of our Essential Collection chains or pendants.
This little sparkling beauty started it all. The sand dollar is very special to our founder, and it is the reason she brought L. Christine Designs back as a company!
The Sand Dollar is known for having a deep meaning for faith, hope, blessings, unconditional love, freedom, prosperity, and freedom.
Sand dollars are actually living, burrowing sea urchins. When they wash up on the beach and are bleached by the sun, they look like a large silvery-white coin which gives them their name.
There is a beautiful legend about the sand dollar representing the story of Christ:
On the top of the shell is a symbol that looks like a star, reminding us of the Star of Bethlehem leading the wise men to the Christ Child. Around the star is an outline of an Easter lily, a symbol of the Lord’s resurrection.
There are five holes in a sand dollar – four around the ends of the star and one in the center. According to the religious legend, the four holes represent the four wounds of Christ when his hands and feet were nailed to the cross. The center hole represents the wound made from a soldier’s spear.
When you turn over the sand dollar, you see the outline of a poinsettia, the Christmas flower. And if you break open a sand dollar, five dove-shaped pieces emerge, which are actually the sand dollars former teeth. Doves represent peace and goodwill.

WHAT IS GOLD-FILLED?
Gold-Filled jewelry provides the same look, wear, shine, and luxurious feel of solid gold with a less expensive price tag.
Gold filled jewelry is made by bonding a layer of gold onto a base metal (usually brass) core. To be considered ‘gold-filled’, the gold layer must be at least 5% of the total metal content. Most
gold-filled jewelry is made with 14 karat gold or 18 karat gold.
Gold-filled is a much higher quality than gold-plated because it has a thicker layer of gold, it is resistant to tarnishing and fading, and provides longevity and durability to your gold jewelry pieces.
WHAT IS “VERMEIL?”
Gold vermeil jewelry is made of two kinds of precious metals, a sterling silver core plated with pure gold. To be considered gold vermeil, the plating must be at least 10 karat gold and 2.5
microns thick.
Our Vermeil Gold designs are a pure .925 sterling silver base plated with 14 karat or 18 karat gold.
Vermeil, like Gold-Filled provides the luxurious look, feel, wear, and longevity of solid gold for a fraction of the price.
WHAT IS SOLID GOLD?
Solid gold jewelry is made entirely of pure gold. Our solid gold designs are either 14-karat or 18-karat solid gold, and are the most popular choices for fine jewelry because they're the perfect
balance between purity and durability.
Some solid gold does contain a gold alloy, however, and only in the case of 24 karat.
Because 24 karat gold is too soft for jewelry, it’s usually mixed with other materials like copper, silver, nickel, zinc, and palladium for added strength.

If you decide to return or exchange an item, however, an unused item with tag still attached may be returned for in store credit within 14 days of receiving your order.

Our high quality jewelry is made of 14k or 18k gold over .925 sterling silver, and 14K Gold-Filled precious metals that will stay shiny and bright for a lifetime with proper care.
14K, 18K, 24K Gold-Filled & 14K over Sterling Silver (Vermeil):
- Preserve your jewelry's gold-filled and gold over sterling plating by avoiding contact with water, cleaning agents, beauty products, and anything containing derivatives of alcohol.
- Remove jewelry prior to exercise, washing your hands or swimming.
- Gently clean your jewelry with a soft, dry cotton cloth to renew its shine.
Fine Jewelry, 14K Solid Gold, Cubic Zirconia, and other stones:
- Fine jewelry can be gently washed with warm water and mild soap. Make sure to rinse well.
- Dry completely with a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid chlorine and cleaning agents. While it won’t tarnish, it can minimize its golden shine or damage fragile gemstones.

Our fine pieces are delicate and must be stored properly to avoid tangles, bends or breaks. We suggest storing your pieces in individual pouches, separate from one another, clasped, laid flat or hung on separate posts.
- We encourage being mindful of your jewelry while exercising. Rings in particular can be subject to bending or lost stones with weights, pulleys or other equipment.
